Photo by @TimLaman on assignment for @NatGeo covering the forest fires of Borneo. Unloading our boat at Tuanan Village on the Kapuas River a week ago during very bad smoke/haze. At sunset, the atmosphere took on this amazing glow (for the doubters, this image was made on daylight white balance and no adjustments made in post). I wish the effect hadn’t been due to the smoke, as it is quite beautiful in its own way. Since then, things have improved a bit, and a few rains have fallen the area, but many fires still burn. I wonder what affect this air is having on the health of villagers, especially kids, who have been breathing this for months. Can’t be good. #orangutan, #Indonesia, #Kalimantan, #fire, #Borneo, #AsianHaze, #smoke, @NatGeoCreative, @thephotosociety. See more behind the scenes @timlaman by natgeo
