Photo by @markleongphotography. In the village of Hongphoi, Konyak tribesmen celebrate the Aoleang planting festival by wearing traditional costumes, beating log drums and firing off their muskets. This is probably my favorite outtake from our Naga coverage. The Northeast Indian state of Nagaland is home to 16 indigenous hill tribes. Formerly headhunters, today 90% of Nagas are baptized Christians. Warrior ways have continued, however, with armed insurgents fighting India for autonomy. This month, the Central Government just signed a peace framework with the largest insurgent group, the NSCN-IM.
